A Rainbow Cake for Indigo

My daughter's name is a color, Indigo.  Hence, it was kismet that she requested a Rainbow themed party for her birthday.

I decided to make a six-layer cake, one for each color of the rainbow.  A cooking scale made sure that each layer was the same size.  I tried using the fancy fondant coloring, but the basic liquid color drops from the grocery store worked the best.

To add to the rainbow theme, the girls divided up a box of Froot Loops into its individual colors.  Trivial fact: the colors are not divided evenly -- there are a lot more green loops and a lot fewer yellow ones.

Moving from "froot" to "fruit," my mom put together a rainbow fruit plate.

Other food included a rainbow layered jello, lollipops, rice krispie treats with rainbow sprinkles, colors fish crackers and Skittles.

The rainbow unicorn jumper arrived, along with 20 kids.  Several games and two pinatas later, it was finally time to cut open the cake!

Yum!

Happy Birthday Indigo!  We love you!
